Schorem Haarsnijder en Barbier no longer needs an introduction - this groundbreaking, men-only, rock & roll barbershop in Rotterdam has rocked the hairdressing world since its inception in 2011. Jars of hair fat are now sold worldwide under the brand name Reuzel, which is run by Schorem. Since 2014, the gentlemen also organize the Rotterdam Scumbash festival.
Rock & roll plays a central role at Schorem. The men do not hide their preference for punk, psycho and rockabilly, country and bluegrass under (hairdressing) chairs or benches. Schorem founders Leen and Bertus took the opportunity for the occasion of the fourth Scumbash festival on March 4, 2017 to compose a real rock & roll compilation on honest vinyl.
The result is impressive: Songs Of Slaughter and Redemption: A Barbershop Jukebox by Schorem contains 14 tracks that can be heard at loud volume. Veterans Johnny Cash and Iggy & The Stooges alternate with a new generation of rockers such as The Hives, Mad Sin, The Bones, Backyard Babies and more.
