The Story
Layrite began in 1999 when barber Donnie Hawley set out to solve a simple but stubborn problem: petroleum-based styling products held hair in place but would not rinse out. He wanted performance that respected the haircut and a formula that made daily grooming simple, so he created a water-soluble pomade that “Holds Like Wax and Washes Out Like Gel.” A client’s offhand compliment that the product was the only one that made his hair lay right turned a workshop solution into a brand.
Since its beginning Layrite was developed in the barber chair. Every formula was tested on real clients during real appointments, which produced products that perform under pressure, deliver consistent results and feel natural to wear. Barbers chose Layrite because it helped them do better work and customers chose it because styling became easy and dependable. Over time the brand grew beyond the local shop to become a trusted name in professional grooming worldwide.
